Trust requires sacrifice.
Trust requires a sacrifice of our feelings on the altar of praise.
When things are not working out for reasons you cannot fathom; when everything inside of you says to give up on God; when you just cannot perceive better days even with your eyes of faith. That’s when trust steps in.
“They will fight against you, but they will not prevail over you, for I am with you to protect you and deliver you,” says the Lord. – Jeremiah 1:19
“And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Mathew 28:20
“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6
“Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear..” – Isaiah 59:1
A hundred different lies try to choke God’s word in you. You try so hard to hold on and just when you think of letting go, the Holy Spirit reminds you of God’s promises for you. How Jesus held on to you in your worst and how he didn’t let go.
So hold on a little longer, my friend.
Sacrifice those gut wrenching feelings on the altar of praise. For He alone is worthy and mighty to save. The wind and the waves obey Him. Mountains quake before Him. He is the God of the universe and nothing escapes Him. Surely, you can sing a new song of praise before Him.
Lift His name on high and let the enemy see, the harder he tries to oppress you the louder you will sing!
Remember the story of Paul and Silas (Acts 16:24-26)? Chained in a dungeon they were doing two things: praying and singing hymns of praise to God! Wow! You know what happened next….the foundations of the prison shook and not only theirs but everyone’s’ shackles were unfastened.
Oh how I wish to see this manifest in my time.
