Daily Prompt: Mighty

One day during Sunday worship, the Holy Spirit amplified the term “Almighty” within me. I was going through a rough day and I was reminded of the song Almighty by Chris Tomlin. The verse begins with the following lines:

You have no rival
You stand alone
The heavens worship
Before Your throne there is no one like You
You have no equal
Your kingdom reigns
Yours is the highest
Of every name, there is no one like You

And as I started to focus all my attention on this one word, it’s like all my troubled thoughts started to fade away. I realised that my God was not just mighty but He was and is and will always be Almighty. He is sovereign over all; over all the universe, over all the earth, over all life’s triumphs and defeat. He holds the stars and the heavenly bodies in place. He is more that able to hold my life steady in His strong and mighty hands. The fact the He is in control resonated in my soul.

In that moment I was truly filled with joy knowing that I can rest in Him in the midst of my storms.

Lift up your eyes on high And see who has created these stars, The One who leads forth their host by number, He calls them all by name; Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, Not one of them is missing. Isaiah 40:26

He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them. Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite. Psalm 147:4-5

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained; What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him? Psalm 8:3-4
