The other day I was reading from the book of Hebrews chapter 9 (2-7) where it describes the temple area and the Holy of Holies where ONLY the hight priest could enter and that too ONLY once a year to make atonement for sin by sprinkling the blood of the sacrificial animals. He acted as the mediator between God and the people.
And I thought to myself what a privilege we have today to enter the Holy of Holies through the blood of Jesus. The ultimate sacrifice was made for you and me 2017 years ago and till this day gives us access to come before His throne of grace with our prayers and supplications and in times of trials and temptations.
Hebrews 10: 19-22 says: 19 Therefore, believers, since we have confidence and full freedom to enter the Holy Place [the place where God dwells] by [means of] the blood of Jesus, 20 by this new and living way which He initiated and opened for us through the veil [as in the Holy of Holies], that is, through His flesh, 21 and since we have a great and wonderful Priest [Who rules] over the house of God, 22 let us approach [God] with a true and sincere heart in unqualified assurance of faith, having had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
You don’t have to wait for Sunday to enter His Presence but every day and every place is an opportunity to enter and experience His glorious presence. When Jesus entered the Holy of Holies in heaven (Heb 9:11-12, 24) to sprinkle His blood for our complete redemption, He became our eternal High Priest. One who can sympathies with us and plead our case before the Father. He became our mediator and reconciled us to the Father that we may have direct access to God’s throne. Do you understand what that means?! I get so excited when I think about this! Whether I’m feeling good or am knocked down by trials, I know a place where I can go and kneel and with His righteous right hand HE delivers me.
Let me encourage someone today. No matter where you are in life or what circumstances surround you. Just come before Him for He accepts us just as we are and gives us grace to overcome. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done. He still calls out to the lost and lonely and provides love, shelter and grace to sin no more.
God bless you!
Some more scripture references:
Hebrews 9:11-12: But when Christ appeared as a High Priest of the good things to come [that is, true spiritual worship], He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not a part of this [material] creation. 12 He went once for all into the Holy Place [the Holy of Holies of heaven, into the presence of God], and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, having obtained and secured eternal redemption [that is, the salvation of all who personally believe in Him as Savior].
Hebrews 9:24: For Christ did not enter into a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true one, but [He entered] into heaven itself, now to appear in the very presence of God on our behalf;
